The Compas

Compa is an abbreviation for compadre in Spanish that has been reserved to name godfathers and/or friends. The word has normally been used among males, but here we embrace the queering of language, an act of anti-colonial resistance. For us, to be a compa is to be a compañero (companion), compatriota (compatriot), colega (colleague), un testigo (witness), and overall, friend.
